UAM is a public university, founded only 50 years ago, but has already achieved an outstanding international reputation for its high-quality teaching and research activities. It is generally recognized as one of the best Spanish universities in both national and international rankings (9th worldwide position in the QS University Rankings: Top 50 Under 50). The Biometrics and Data Pattern Analytics (BiDA) Lab at UAM is dedicated to research in the areas of biometrics, pattern recognition, image analysis, and speech and signal processing. The group consists of 4 faculty members, 6 post-graduate students and multiple under-graduate students. UAM is working since more than 20 years in multiple biometrics like speaker, fingerprint, face, iris, and signature verification, from matching algorithms to advanced secure applications including mobile biometrics.
